"Air Astana" company on the threshold of the world specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 informed that it is focused on transit flights through the capital of Kazakhstan. This was told in the press service of the air carrier.
"Air Astana" announces the increase in flights from the dynamically developing hub in Astana. Thus, flights from Astana to Tashkent will increase to three times weekly, while the flights to Beijing, Tbilisi and Bishkek - to four times weekly, to Istanbul, London and Omsk - to five weekly times, to Urumqi - to 6 flights a week and to Novosibirsk, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg - up to 7 flights a week. In addition to this, "Air Astana" resumes flights from Astana to Kiev from June 2, 2017,” reported in the press service.
According to the airline, 10% of the total number of passengers comes from the transit traffic, but this figure will double in the coming years.
"The main emphasis is on the growth of the transit flow through the capital airport, where a new terminal will officially open in the summer of 2017, which will double the existing capacity of up to 8 million passengers per year. The launch of this terminal will strengthen the position of Astana Airport as the leading transit hub in Central Asia, covering more than 250 million people in Central Asia, the CIS and southern Russia,” noted in the airline.
"Air Astana" currently operates more than 400 flights to and from Astana.

Let us remind, earlier it became known that for the exhibition an unlimited Open Sky regime will be introduced at the airport of the capital, and on May 15, the construction of a new terminal will be completed in the air harbour. In addition, new regular flights will start their operation. The plans for the launch of new routes have already been announced by Chinese "Air China", Ukrainian "UIA", Hungarian "Wizz Air”, Polish “LOT", Finnish "Finnair" and Tajik “Tajik Air”. National carrier "Air Astana" has informed that all passengers arriving by the aircrafts of its airlines during the period of EXPO 2017 will be able to visit the exhibition for free.
