Akim of Astana told about solar energy objects in the city created within the framework of EXPO

29 June

Traffic lights, bus stops and light poles in Astana work at the expense of the Sun energy. Astana city akim Aset Isekeshev told about the solar energy objects in the city created within the framework of the world specialized exhibition EXPO 2017, news portal Total.kz informs.

"A comprehensive program on the energy efficiency of social facilities - schools, kindergartens and hospitals - is being introduced. 50 renewable energy facilities have been installed in the city, for example, one of the know-how has become a self-guided SmartFlower system in the shape of a flower that converts the sun's rays into electricity. Stops and traffic lights, technological benches, lights, lamps in parks and squares as well as a number of other small projects are used around the city. Naturally, they are still small but they are very important for new thinking and preparing the basis for larger projects we have also started to work on", - shared Isekeshev at a world conference" Tourism and future energy".

As the akim noted, work is underway to completely replace street lighting with new energy-efficient lamps in Astana. Innovative technologies will reduce energy costs by 60%.

"We are planning to implement a number of low-carbon projects including the transition to low-carbon transport. The Ministry of Energy is discussing the issue of full gasification of the country, a small number of projects are based on LNG technologies but a complete solution is very important for sustainable development in the nearest months", - the akim of Astana stressed.
