UN Secretary-General assessed the EXPO 2017

The issues of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United Nations were discussed by the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. As the "Liter" newspaper reports, the head of the international organization gave a positive assessment of the world-wide specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 held in the country.

At the meeting in Astana the UN Secretary General noted that the world specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 is a clear confirmation of the increased economic potential and international authority of Kazakhstan. In addition, Guterres highly appreciated the efforts of Kazakhstan and President Nursultan Nazarbayev in the settlement of the Syrian conflict.

In his turn, the speaker of the Senate said that Kazakhstan considers the UN to be a non-alternative and universal organization.

"The active participation of Kazakhstan in the work of the UN Security Council is a priority direction of the country's foreign policy, and we support the efforts of the Secretary General to reform the UN", - Tokayev said.

Let is remind that Kazakhstan together with the UN intends to hold the VIII International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development and the Ministerial Meeting on Energy at the site of the world specialized exhibition Astana EXPO 2017. The International Energy Charter will take part in the forum and conference. The theme of energy for sustainable development will be presented in the pavilion of the UN.

It should be noted that the Organization renders wide information support at the exhibition.
