Kazakhstan and the UAE agreed on the introduction of a visa-free regime on the threshold of EXPO

The first meeting of the joint commission on consular issues between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. According to the press service of the MFA of RK, this commission was established in accordance with the agreements reached during the official visit of President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Abu Dhabi in January this year.

"The meeting was held on the threshold of the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to Astana. At the meeting were discussed the ways to deepen the consular and legal relations between Kazakhstan and the Emirates, cooperation to protect the rights and interests of citizens of the two countries, provide legal assistance to individuals and legal entities, as well as visits by UAE citizens to the international specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 in Astana,” reported in the press service.

During the meeting, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi noted that the interaction between the two countries has an open and confidential nature in virtually across the whole spectrum of bilateral cooperation and the international agenda.

"This is largely due to the friendly relations established between the leaders of the two states,"  was emphasized in the ministry.

During the meeting, the Emirate side announced the decision of the UAE government to introduce a visa-free regime for a period of one month for all citizens of Kazakhstan visiting the Emirates. It is expected that the relevant document will be signed on May 23 by the foreign ministers of the two countries.

The foreign ministries of Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates agreed to establish a regular exchange of information on emergency situations with citizens requiring consular and legal protection.
