EXPO's commissars took part in the mass planting of trees in Astana in honor of the Capital

7 July

Mass planting of trees took place in the Botanical Garden of Astana in honor of the Day of the capital of Kazakhstan, website EXPO2017.com reports with reference to the press service of the city akim. The commissioners of the world specialized exhibition Astana EXPO 2017 took part in the ecological campaign together with the city akim.

The commissars of the EXPO foreign pavilions left notes with signatures on the trunks of seedlings. The campaign participants thus gave the international status to the future forest.

The Botanical Garden in Astana is being built on the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. The total area of the garden is about 92 hectares including the landscaping area - 587 thousand square meters. 93,200 plantings have already been planted here including 26,946 trees, 12,346 bushes and 53,905 hedges.

"The authorities of Poland brought linden, oak, apple and rowan seedlings from the heart of Europe. In total 214 trees have been planted on the territory of the Botanical Garden. Representatives of the Polish delegation note that green plantations were brought to Astana not by chance because their country is undergoing the "Thousand trees per minute" campaign, thanks to which 500 million trees are planted annually in Poland. This idea echoes the "Green Belt around Astana" project, initiated by the head of state", - the organizers of the campaign said.

The garden houses rare varieties of plants such as black birch, red maple, maple, common juniper, Manchurian nut, Siberian fir and other species. At the same time, 2 greenhouses will operate in the garden.

The akimat assured that the botanical garden will open the doors for residents and guests of the capital this autumn.
