Kyrgyzstan has exhibited its exposition in the group of pavilions called "Silk Road” at the world specialized exhibition Astana EXPO 2017. It is devoted to energy, culture and environmental protection, the “Sputnik” agency reports.
In addition to Kyrgyzstan, several countries are represented in the pavilion: Ukraine, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Armenia. The exposition of the Kyrgyz Republic covers an area of 36 square meters. Visitors can get acquainted with the country's energy potential through touch screens.
According to Azamat Omorov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use, Kyrgyzstan intends to actively develop the renewable energy sector. The hydropower potential of 252 large and medium-sized rivers is estimated at 18.5 million kilowatts of power, more than 140 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, of which about 10 percent have been absorbed to date.
"Our republic has a high renewable energy potential, which is estimated at 840.2 million tons of fuel equivalent per year," Omorov noted.
Let us note that the National Day of Kyrgyzstan will be held on the exhibition site on August 31.
