Latvia is preparing to hold its National Day on the territory of the world specialized exhibition Astana EXPO 2017 on July 9. This is reported by "Khabar 24” television channel.
Guests of the pavilion will not only be able to get acquainted with the technology, but also to appreciate the Latvian cuisine and pop stars from Latvia will entertain the visitors. The delegation will be headed by the President of the Republic of Latvia, Raimonds Vējonis. Among the popular performers will be singer Intars Busulis, who will sing not only his best hits to the guests, but also songs of the legendary Raimonds Pauls on the poems of Yevgeny Yevtushenko.
"Songs, of course, some have already heard somewhere, and some early years of the composer Raimonds Pauls. Certainly, these will be from “Dai Bog” album. So, this jazz and a little pop approach will be at EXPO 2017. I think , we can proudly say that we will normally present the musicians of Latvia with pride at EXPO 2017,” Busulis noted.
The highlight of the culinary program will be the dishes of the Latvian chef Martins Sirmais, who will bring from Riga to Astana a special menu from the gifts of nature of Latvia.
"There will be desserts, fish and meat. The fish, for instance, will be our Baltic smoked salmon, and the meat will be venison jerky. We will be representing our entire country and its wealth, both the forest and the air, the sea and the lakes. Our idea is to show all the natural phenomena and all the seasons of Latvia. For instance, we will have jam and cloudberries. We will have our cold winter, hot summer, autumn and spring. We want to show the maximum diversity," the chef stressed.
Latvians expect that after the National Day, the attendance of their pavilion, which is already one of the most popular at the exhibition, will exceed the projected number of 110 thousand people.
"Approximately, I would say that every day in the last days from 2 to 3 thousand visitors visit us. It means that in 20 days, somewhere around 50 thousand people have probably visited. I think that we will surpass our initial forecasts. There are a lot of visitors and the interest is very high. Our pavilion, as we have heard, is one of the most popular at EXPO, and such news is spreading rapidly. I think that we will definitely have many more visitors,” the deputy commissioner of the Latvian pavilion at EXPO Arturs Dombrovskis is confident.
The television channel notes, that after the celebration of the National Day of Latvia, the Latvians will begin preparations for the Days of Riga at EXPO fields, which will be held in August.
"The capital of Latvia will show itself to the world as an attractive tourist destination with great potential for investment, will present its trade and economic opportunities and logistics advantages," the media concludes.
Let us remind, the "highlight" of the Latvian pavilion are the "amber stones" 3, 4 and 5 meters high, inside of which in a 3D format visitors watch a video of the virtual reality reflecting the nature and cities of Latvia. Among the exhibits, the Latvians presented the prototype of the hydrogen locomotive "Hyloco". The main theme of the Latvian exposition is "Energy is in our nature”.
