Multi-day cycling race took place in Astana in honour of EXPO

Multi-day cycling race that was dedicated to the world specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 has ended in Astana. The “Astana Cup" competitions were held from June 22 to 26, EXPO2017.com website reports with reference to the press service of akim of the city.

The winner of the 21 km individual race was the cyclist from Astana Vladimir Eikhorn, the sportsman from the West Kazakhstan region Dmitry Noskov came second, and the bronze was taken by the capital’s cyclist Amir Bogdanov.

"We are holding competitions in highway racing to improve the sporting skills of young cyclists, develop cycling and popularize it among schoolchildren and youth. We are also planing to identify prospective athletes and build a strong national team,” the organizers of the multi-day event shared.

In total, 100 sportsmen from all corners of Kazakhstan participated in the competitions.

Let's remind, earlier in Astana on the territory of the bicycle path of the road-lane network was held the Open City Championship in cycling, dedicated to the Day of State Symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the world specialized exhibition EXPO 2017.

It should be noted that a professional cycling race will be held on August 12 in honour of EXPO in which the world-famous Astana Pro Team will participate. It is expected that the cycling team "Astana" will be represented by its strongest composition.
