As part of the PRC's participation in EXPO, a Chinese Film Festival has already started in Astana, where the legendary actor of action movies Jackie Chan arrived. In mid-April it became know that among the honoured guests of the world specialised  exhibition Astana EXPO 2017 will be the President of the PRC Xi Jinping. Later, the Chinese leader personally confirmed to President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev his intention to visit the exhibition. As the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Lu Kang stated, the Chinese leader will stay in Kazakhstan for 4 days.

It is also known that the informational support for EXPO will be provided by China Radio International.

In early May, it became known that China will receive two pavilions at EXPO.

Earlier, the Ambassador of China to Kazakhstan, Zhang Hanhui, expressed concern about possible visa problems for the Chinese on the threshold of EXPO 2017. According to the Ambassador, there is uncertainty in the issue of obtaining visas, related to the work of private Kazakh mediators.

The diplomats of Kazakhstan and China, because of the increased interest in the exhibition by the citizens of the PRC, have already switched to an enhanced mode of operation.
