The president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev made an unplanned tour of Astana, the "Khabar 24" TV channel reported. Among the objecst of the Kazakh leader there was familiarization with the readiness of the capital's facilities for the forthcoming world specialized exhibition Astana EXPO 2017.
"Today the President of Kazakhstan unexpectedly for everyone changed his route and travelled through Astana. Such decision of Nursultan Nazarbayev was a real surprise. The capital authorities had no chance to prepare for an audit and to make the city shine. Instead of the usual way to work, the presidential road train headed for the city railway station. No one knew that the visit of such a guest was expected. Railway station is the first thing that tourists see. It makes the biggest part of the impression of the city. The President saw the condition of the railway station with his own eyes but not from reports ", - it was stated in the material.
Nazarbayev talked with the residents of the capital and also focused on preparation for the EXPO and called on the citizens to take part in the landscaping of Astana.
"Now we are preparing for EXPO, it is very important that the city is clean so that we are ready to meet ] guests decently", - the President said.
The authors of the material note that on that day there was no "green corridor" organized for the presidential cortege.
"The president personally considered the capital's traffic. Nursultan Nazarbayev instructed the city administration to think over the solution to the problem with the congestion of roads and lack of parking spaces." The head of the state warned that unexpected inspections will start in Astana and will happen on a regular basis", - the television channel reports.
This, as the journalists note, will allow the President to check the real state of affairs in the city.
"Now I will leave early until EXPO, first I will go round the whole city, then I will come to work", - Nazarbayev said.
The President stressed that such an approach to work should be throughout Kazakhstan. Heads of cities and regional centers should arrange such stress tests for city services and monitor how they are managed. In general, Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the good condition of Astana after the winter.
Owners of buildings and structures, shops and so on should go out together with their colleagues and tidy the near-by territory. The biggest problem is traffic, lots of cars, a lot of congestion. Now we are preparing for EXPO, we need different options, need to apply different experience", - the President of Kazakhstan summed up.
Earlier, at a meeting on socio-economic development of Astana and the preparations for the international specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev identified a number of problems related to the preparation for the event.
