Masterpieces from the New York Museum of Nicholas Roerich were brought to Astana. A unique art exhibition was opened in the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of Astana EXPO 2017, the information portal Bnews.kz writes.
37 works of Nicholas Roerich were brought from the USA for the first time. The artist created paintings in adolescence as well as in the 1920s and 1940s.
"The art of the United States and world masterpieces are widely represented in Kazakhstan for the first time which is a welcome development as we are a country that is rapidly moving forward. There was a dialogue between the two countries at the level of the language of painting and art. We did our best to make the exhibition come to Kazakhstan", - said Minister of Culture and Sports Arystanbek Mukhamediuly.
Nicholas Roerich had a passion for traveling, hundreds of works he wrote on his way to the Central Asian expedition in China Turkestan, Mongolia, India, Tibet and the Altai. The theme of the exhibition in Astana opens the audience to the mythical country of Shambhala presumably located in Tibet or in the Himalayas. This concept, moreover, means the state of the soul, the union of man with God.
"Art is very seriously guarded in America and bringing art outside the US is a colossal project. As for the New York Museum of Nicholas Roerich, it had such a policy: since this collection is priceless, in general for many years since the foundation of the Museum, this collection has never been exported", - the curator of the exhibition Marina Kovaleva emphasized.
As noted by representatives of the New York Museum, it was important for them to organize an exhibition in Astana within the framework of such a large-scale event as the world specialized exhibition EXPO 2017.
"EXPO 2017, the main idea of which is the future energy, is a wonderful platform for showing Roerich's creativity because Roerich believed that the main energy potential is drawn in art and we very much hope that all visitors to EXPO will definitely visit our exhibition", - the curators of the exhibition told.
