First paid parking lot for traffic control during EXPO will be launched on May 27 in Astana

8 May

Pilot launch of the first paid parking lot in Astana is scheduled for May 27. It will appear on "Nurzhol” boulevard, “Kursiv” newspaper  reports. As the head of Astana Passenger Transport Department Bekmyrza Igenberdinov said, the parking lot will be designed for 422 seats.

"The principle of “park-and-ride“ parking means that those wishing to visit the EXPO 2017 exhibition centre leave their vehicles in the parking lot and get to the place by public transport. This measure significantly reduces the load on the street and road network in the EXPO area and reduces the number of traffic jams on the main highways,” explained Igenberdinov.

It should be noted that the tariff for paid parking lots will be 100 tenge per hour. They will be equipped with guard posts and information system. Such parking lots will be for nine thousand seats in the capital. The rest is scheduled for June 1.
