A round table on the theme: "Kazakhstan is a country of opportunities" was organized in Bern as a part of the establishment of the 25th anniversary of Kazakh-Swiss diplomatic relations. This was reported in the press service of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
"The event was dedicated to the investment and business climate in Kazakhstan, as well as the forthcoming exhibition in Astana. The round table was attended by more than 50 representatives of official, scientific and business circuits of Switzerland from various fields such as healthcare, green energy, energy efficiency, wind power stations and the financial sector", - the press service said.
Zhanar Aitzhanova, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Switzerland, spoke in detail about the main priorities of Kazakhstan's modernization, measures to improve the investment climate, work to attract Swiss investments and technologies, establish regional and scientific and technical cooperation between the Swiss cantons and regions of Kazakhstan as well as universities and research centers of the two countries.
"Nicholas Brühl, Head of Europe and Central Asia Division of the Political Directorate of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland and Filippo Lombardi, Deputy of the Council of Cantons of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland, Co-Chair of the Switzerland-Kazakhstan Interparliamentary Group noted the growing level of bilateral cooperation and shared the prospects for its development. Swiss comissioner at EXPO 2017 Manuel Salhli presented the Swiss pavilion at the forthcoming exhibition and told about its content", - the government informed.
Scientific cooperation has also become a major topic of the round table.
"The leaders of the Universities of Applied Sciences of Bern, Zurich and the University of Geneva expressed high interest in cooperation with Kazakhstan partners and joint implementation of scientific projects and exchange of students. As a result of the event, the participants of the round table highly assessed the current level and prospects of bilateral cooperation, as well as the measures of the country's leadership in modernization of Kazakhstan's economy", - it is said in the government statement.
Let us remind that the Swiss have already started installation of exhibits in the pavilion of the world specialized exhibition Astana EXPO 2017 and the work goes according to the schedule. The theme of the Swiss pavilion "Flower Power" ("the power of flowers") will present visitors with energy efficiency in the daily life of a person, motivating people to more energy-efficient use. On the territory of the pavilion there will be three thematic houses dedicated to the beautiful Swiss mountain ranges, the rational use of water and the popularization of national cuisine. The famous Swiss pilot Raphael Domjan is expected to be among the guests of the exhibition who after visiting EXPO plans to fly an solar-powered airplane to the stratosphere.
