The XIV Eurasian Media Forum has started in Astana. A welcome address on behalf of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev was read by the State Secretary Gulshara Abdykalikova, information portal reports.

“In its 15 years of operation, the Eurasian Media Forum has earned a well-deserved reputation as a place for constructive discussion not only of the topical issues of the journalistic community, but also of the broad range of global issues. In modern conditions, when the world undergoes dramatic changes, the demand for such dialogue sites is bound to increase. Today, our country sets itself the goal of modernizing the key areas of its development, including the political system, the economy, and social relations. The key to success is the openness and receptivity to the best achievements,"Nazarbayev addressed the forum participants.

In his letter, he expressed the conviction that only an open dialogue, respecting other points of view is essential in the world context and is the route to restore global trust in order to solve the pressing problems of millions of people.

"The media should become the leaders of this process and focus on bringing the peoples and countries together, rather than erecting new barriers. The world has entered the era of the formation of a new information environment, and we must do our best,” the Kazakh leader noted.

The President of Kazakhstan stressed that the decisive factor for sustainable development is the readiness for future social and technological changes.

"In this regard, it is very symbolic that the agenda of the media forum includes the issues of the “green” economy as a key area for changing the technological order. This is in line with the theme of EXPO 2017 exhibition held in Astana. I am confident that the participants and guests of the forum will be able to get acquainted with the latest achievements and discoveries in the field of future energy,” Nazarbayev concluded.

The edition notes that the XIV Eurasian Media Forum is held under the banner of the world specialized exhibition Astana EXPO 2017.

The agenda of the conference includes a number of issues relevant to the entire international political and media community, including the geopolitical reorganization of the world, security strategies in the digital revolution, trends and features of future energy development.

"The EAMF 2017 agenda addresses a number of topical and important issues of the day and relevant topics, including the global reorganization of the world, possible interaction scenarios, the concept of a “green” economy as the basis for sustainable development of countries," the report says.
