The heads of the “Baikonur” space complex held a meeting where the organizational issues of visiting the space objects at the cosmodrome by the participants of the world specialized exhibition Astana EXPO 2017 were discussed. This is reported by “Kazinform”.
"We began to prepare for the visit of the guests in 2014. Over the past two and a half years, we have done a lot of work on city improvement and development of the tourism potential of Baikonur. Unfortunately, not all our plans have been implemented. Now, our main task is to outline a joint plan for the reception of guests" said the Head of the Administration of Baikonur city, Anatoly Petrenko.
In accordance with the intergovernmental agreement, there is an order of visiting the Baikonur complex. To ensure access to the sites of the cosmodrome, citizens of Russia and Kazakhstan must apply at least 10 days before the date of visit, and foreign citizens - 55 days before. However, during the period from June 10 to September 10, 2017, it is planned to introduce a special regime for the visitors of the exhibition.
“The deputy director of Roscosmos branch, Andrey Egorov, said that the management of the state corporation has decided to establish a 10-day deadline for applications to visit Baikonur for foreigners during EXPO. Relevant services reported at the meeting about the organizational issues on the development of tourist routes, the possibility of the number fund of the hotels in the city and on the sites, the Director of Museum of Baikonur Cosmodrome History, Antonina Bogdanova spoke about the potential of a one-time visit to the museum by tourist groups,” the edition reports.
Let us remind, earlier in the administration of Baikonur city was held a meeting of the city Antiterrorist Commission (ATC) and the Operational Headquarters (OSH), where the planned measures to ensure security during the preparation and holding of the world specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 at the facilities of the “Baikonur” complex were reviewed.
