The International Energy Charter to participate in the work of the world specialized exhibition Astana EXPO 2017. This was announced by "Khabar 24” TV channel.
"A delegation from an authoritative international organization will come to the UN Energy Conference, which will be held within the framework of an international exhibition. This became known during the Energy Charter Forum in Brussels. Representatives of the participating countries discussed the development of investments in sustainable energy," the television channel reported.
Established in 1991, the organization coordinates cooperation between the countries of Europe, Africa and Asia. The authors of the story reminded that Kazakhstan was one of the first to join the energy charter process, and in 2014 successfully chaired it.
"Kazakhstan is one of the countries that invests a lot on diversifying both ways and means of energy production, and at the same time it helps to develop the international process, because the International Charter was concluded with great help from Kazakhstan," said the former EU Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs.
The Secretary-General of the International Energy Charter, Urban Rusnak, also confirmed the participation of the organization in EXPO and the United Nations conference, which will be held during the opening of the exhibition.
"This specialized exhibition on a global scale will help spread the technologies that are key to achieving climate change goals. Kazakhstan, as a country with huge hydrocarbon resources on the one hand, and, on the other hand, the potential for renewable energy sources development, is such a special laboratory", said Rusnak.
He expressed confidence that the only right decision was made: to start the investments and gradually move to clean energy sources.
It should be reminded that Kazakhstan together with the UN intends to hold the VIII International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development and the Ministerial Meeting on Energy at the site of the world specialized exhibition Astana EXPO 2017.
