The concept of Astana with new areas and a tropical park is being developed on the threshold of EXPO

Over the past five years almost 4.5 trillion tenge was invested in Astana. This was announced at the meeting on the organization of the world specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 and development of the capital, the “Sputnik” agency reports.

At the meeting, akim of the capital Asset Issekeshev told President Nursultan Nazarbayev about holding a competition to create a plan for the capital. The event was decided to organize on the basis of the experience of London, Abu Dhabi and Copenhagen.

"The new concept includes seven districts with its own centres.At the same time we propose to radically change the approaches to territory of the capital development.We have defined the boundaries of 22,000 hectares in which the engineering and transport infrastructure is guaranteed until the 25th year. It is possible to build 40 million square meters of housing and accommodate two million residents here,” Asset Issekeshev said.

Priority of construction, according to the akim, will be transferred to the right-bank part of the city. Old buildings will be demolished or reconstructed, and new multi-storey buildings will be built.

Akim added that this year will be completed the Botanical Garden project. The length of the running and athletic tracks in its territory will be 30 kilometres. About 40 thousand trees will be planted, among which are tropical and exotic plants.

Let us remind, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev at the meeting on socio-economic development of Astana and the preparations for the international specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 identified a number of issues related to the preparation for the event.
