SCAT will operate direct flights from Astana to Yerevan starting from May 31 every Wednesday and Saturday. The flights are carried out on a comfortable liner Boeing 737. This was stated by the airline's head Vladimir Denisov, the website EXPO2017.com reports.
The capital of Armenia can be reached from Astana in three and a half hours. The two-way ticket costs about 73 thousand tenge.
"Our airline has been operating flights between Kazakhstan and Armenia for 15 years having a powerful air hub in the city of Aktau. We connect 8 cities of Kazakhstan with the capital of Armenia. During this period we carried more than 200 thousand passengers. On the eve of the world exhibition and in commemoration of opening of the new terminal in Astana our airline decided to launch Astana-Yerevan flight. We hope that this flight will be useful not only for diplomats but also will connect the capabilities of our states in the implementation of tourist activities and will enable the Armenian community of Akmola, Pavlodar, Karaganda regions to have a more convenient time for the trip", - Denisov said.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Kazakhstan Ara Saakyan congratulated Kazakhstan citizens on the opening of a new air route. He noted that the two countries have friendly relations that could further be strengthened with the launch of the direct flight.
"This is a long-awaited decision and we have been negotiating since 2012. They were connected with economic details and I would like to congratulate the citizens of Yerevan and Astana. It will really give an impetus to the development of tourism and trips. It is very important for us that the air communication between the two capitals is permanent. It is known that Astana airport has more developed infrastructure than other airports in Kazakhstan. We expect that tariffs will be established so that we make it beneficial to move not only passengers but cargo as well", - Saakyan said.
During the presentation of the flight, the acting chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee Talgat Lastayev noted that several more international communications will be launched in the coming months: Astana-Budapest, Astana-Helsinki, Astana-Delhi. The main task is to turn the airport of the capital of Kazakhstan into an air hub with a developed and wide network of directions.
Earlier a regular flight between the capitals of Kazakhstan and Poland has been launched on the eve of the world specialized exhibition EXPO in Astana. Astana-Warsaw flights are carried out by LOT airline.
