The "East and West: antique weapons from the State Hermitage collection” exhibition was opened in Astana within the framework of the world specialized exhibition EXPO 2017. The State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gulshara Abdykalikova, Minister of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan Arystanbek Mukhamediuly, Russian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Mikhail Bocharnikov and other high-ranking guests attended the opening of the exhibition, EXPO2017.com website reports with reference to the press service of Akorda.
"The weapon art exhibition from the Hermitage collection is taking place within the framework of EXPO 2017. In total, more than 6,000 events will be held in the framework of the international specialized exhibition.The arrival of the world-renowned Hermitage, one of the 20 most visited museums in the world is a testimony to the true friendship between Kazakhstan and Russia,” noted Abdykalikova, opening the exhibition.
The State Secretary stated that today, according to experts, the world faces the threat of a new war. Therefore, the President of Kazakhstan in his "The World. XXI Century" Manifesto stressed: "We need to unite the efforts of governments, politicians, scientists, businessmen, artists and millions of people all over the world to prevent the recurrence of the tragic mistakes of the past centuries and forever rid the world of the threat of war”.
"The exhibition will allow museum visitors to immerse themselves in the mysteries of the weapons business, learn about the history and development of art in the East and West, various types of weapons, the centres of its production and famous craftsmen.The timeframes cover a significant historical period of the development of the arms craft from the XV to the end of XIX centuries ,” told in the press service of Akorda.
The exhibition features about 70 pieces of weapons art, including military, hunting and ceremonial weapons from Germany, Turkey, Japan, France, India, Italy, Spain, Iran and other countries.
