A wind power plant with a capacity of 100 megawatts will be installed in the Akmola region. This was stated by Kazakhstan's energy minister Kanat Bozumbayev, "KazTAG" reports. The project is implemented by the ENY and General Electric corporations together with the government of the country.
"General Electric produces the necessary equipment for wind farms and the development of wind power in our country is number one priority. Kazakhstan has a huge wind potential of 920 billion kilowatts a year. We expect ENY and General Electric to develop the wind sector of the market", - the minister said.
As Bozumbayev said, a study of the Kazakhstan wind power market will be carried out in the nearest future. Objects of alternative energy sources will be placed taking into account the natural and climatic conditions and capacity of electric networks.
It should be noted that the largest wind power plant in Kazakhstan Yerementau-1 is also located in the Akmola region. Its capacity is 45 megawatts. Earlier the object was shown to the guests of the world specialized exhibition Astana EXPO 2017.
Wind power plant in Yerementau is not the only object allowing to extract wind energy to be shown to guests. The national pavilion of Kazakhstan presents four options for using the Bolotov Windrotor which also produces wind energy. A sample of scientific engineering thought of Kazakhstani scientists was installed near the highway leading to Astana from the capital airport on the eve of the world exhibition EXPO 2017. In this case the installation is not decorative it is used in practice - the turbine supplies energy to a number of objects of the exhibition and the city.
