21 June

7 million flowers were planted on the streets of the city to the world specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 in Astana this summer. This was told by the Head of JSC “Astana-Zelenstroi” Greenhouse Farm Irina Bairamova, IA “NewTimes.kz” writes.

According to Ms.Bairamova, this year, 2 million more flowers were planted than in the past.

"5 million plants were planted last year, 7 million this year. It’s because the city is expanding, growing. EXPO exhibition also has played its part. Now, 95% of all flowers are planted in the city. Record speeds, record numbers. Everything is done quickly, qualitatively and beautifully,” Bairamova noted.

A special group is working on the design of the capital's flower beds. It has been preparing the layouts of drawings since the fall.

"The flowerbeds are not repeated, and the pattern varies from year to year. The design team prepares the drawing and then the experts look at the areas, where, what flower and what colour it will be. Accordingly, the seedlings are laid out for these drawings,” the manager of the greenhouse farm explained.
