Rolled out on the streets of Astana electric buses to drive EXPO visitors free of charge on one of the routes

8 June

Electric buses of Kazakhstan production have rolled out on the streets of Astana on the threshold of the world specialized exhibition EXPO 2017. As blogger and journalist Samat Iskakov wrote on his Facebook page, one of the routes will be free of charge.

"The trip in Astana will be free of charge! However, only on the route EXPO-Green Quarter - Baiterek by new electric buses that were presented today. The first passengers were journalists and bloggers,” the user wrote.

As information portal notes, when launching this project, the critically low quality of the bus fleet in Kazakhstan was taken into account.

"The car park of the republic has approximately 100 thousand buses. At the same time, the proportion of vehicles that are in operation for more than 12 years, among passenger vehicles reaches 80%. The replacement of the smoking and polluting diesel buses with electric buses is a mass trend of recent times in many states that are actively implementing “green economy”,  the edition writes.

According to the journalists of the portal, active introduction of this type of electric transport in Kazakhstan can radically improve the economy of car fleets, including helping to avoid the need to regularly increase prices for transportation services for the population.

"Thanks to the development of technologies, the introduction of Higer Quazar electric vehicles will become an economically justified and rational solution in the fight for the ecology of Kazakhstan's cities,"  stated by the chairman of the"Higer Quazar" supervisory board Yerlan Stambekov.

The official authorities also agree with the manufacturer's opinion.

"The head of state repeatedly said that it is necessary to provide support in the field of electric transport development. Within the framework of today's memorandum, Akimat of Astana only welcomes this kind of initiative. In all developed countries, the conditions are now being created for the development of innovative developments in the transport sector. We believe, that environmentally friendly transport is not a distant future, but the realities of the modern car market right now. We hope that with the advent of electric vehicles and electric buses in our city, the ecological situation will only improve,” said Tursyngali Zhakenov, the head of the passenger transportation department of Astana.

The charge of the battery, according to the calculations of the developers, is enough for 70 kilometres of the route, which will allow to travel three times the route without additional charge, and the charging process will take no more than 8 minutes.

"Buses with 100% domestic content will appear on the streets of our country within a few years. So far in Astana, within the pilot project 2 electric buses are going to be launched, they will work for free up until the end of the international EXPO exhibition. In fact, one such bus is now worth 200 thousand dollars, but the cost of its operation is much lower due to savings in fuelling and maintenance. At the same time Quazar proposes to build the entire charging infrastructure in cities absolutely free of charge, which will give a powerful impetus to the development of a private park of electric vehicles in cities,” the edition quotes Stambekov.

Let us remind, in mid-March it was reported that neighbouring countries: Russia, Azerbaijan and Ukraine have already shown interest in electric buses of Kazakhstan production, which will be demonstrated at EXPO.
